
SQUAD STRUCTURES AND GUIDELINES

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
Sessions available:-
Development ONLY Friday 6-7pm
These sessions are highly recommended for our less experienced swimmers. With up to 3 coaches available per session, EVERY swimmer can have their needs met regardless of their ability level. They provide the opportunity for skills and fitness to develop in a safe and supportive environment.
Swimmers in the Development Squad also have the following weeknight sessions available to them:
Saturday 2pm-3pm
SUMMER TRAINING
Monday and Tuesday (7-8pm)
WINTER TRAINING
Tuesday 6-7pm and Thursday 4.30-6pm
As swimmers progress, they may also be invited by their coach to attend the earlier night summer sessions also.
These sessions are of higher intensity and aim to improve the fitness and skills of the swimmers. Development and Senior Specialist coaches are available at all these sessions.
It is recommended that development swimmers wishing to participate in weekday sessions continue with their development sessions to ensure correct stroke technique is developed.
This squad is designed for less experienced swimmers who are looking to advance from learn to swim to competitive swimming or to swim for fitness. In this squad you will develop your ability in the four swimming strokes, dive starts and turns. As a member of the Development Squad you will be encouraged to attend club time trials, carnivals and Swimming SA Junior League meets.

Ability to swim Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke
INTERMEDIATE SQUAD
Sessions available:-
Monday, Tuesday , Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons (90 mins) at 4.30pm
Saturday morning (2 hours) at 5.30am
***Monday and Wednesday mornings (2 hours) at 5am
Saturday afternoon (1 hour at 2pm/3pm depending on coach advice)
* Swimmers are no longer eligible to attend the Friday night development session once they are in the Intermediate Squad.
***Swimmers cannot be considered for these sessions until the season in which they turn 11 years old.
This squad is designed for swimmers from age 10 who have achieved a state qualifying time, and swimmers who the head coach feels would benefit from this squad level. In this squad you will continue to develop your competitive swimming technique and you will be introduced to morning training sessions, first with Saturday mornings, then weekday mornings when invited by the head coach. There will be a greater emphasis on endurance and competitive skills.

SENIOR SQUAD
This squad is designed for swimmers who have achieved State Qualifying times, National Qualifying times, or are seeking National Qualifying times. In this squad you will be swimming on average 4000m-5000m per session.
