Fantastic results from 2023 State Age Champs!
This year’s championship event was held from 9th March- 13th March. Clovercrest had a team of 26 swimmers competing. Our team consisted of:
Louis, Piper, Kade, Ebony, Erik, Will, Shanon, Ella, Connor, Lachlan, Tayliah, Steph, Savannah, Ethan, Damian, Lilly, Chloe, Cortez, Luca, Meg, Ruby, Alesha, Hannah, Rose, Daniel, and Emily.
We had 4 swimmers competing for the first time, Shanon, Tayliah, Rose, and Hannah. They all swam fantastically, and it is great to expand our team with this up-and-coming talent.
We had an impressive 21 swimmers compete in finals sessions. Congrats to Piper, Kade, Ebony, Erik, Will, Shanon, Ella, Connor, Lachlan, Steph, Savannah, Ethan, Damian, Lilly, Luca, Ruby, Alesha, Hannah, Rose, Daniel, and Emily.
We also had a spectacular 20 swimmers achieve 100% PB rates on their entry times for the meet. Well done to Louis, Piper, Kade, Ebony, Erik, Will, Shanon, Ella, Connor, Lachlan, Tayliah, Savannah, Damian, Lilly, Luca, Meg, Ruby, Alesha, Hannah, and Rose.
The fantastic efforts from our swimmers resulted in an incredible PB rate on entry times of 93% over the whole meet!
We had 8 medal winners, who won a total of 23 medals between them. Several more swimmers also narrowly missed medals with some great swimming, which contributed to our points score, a great team effort! Congrats to our medal winners:

We had several new and improved National Age Qualifying Times achieved. Congrats to:

*Savannah (50, 100, 200 back)

*Alesha (50, 100 breast)
*Unfortunately Savannah, Ebony, and Alesha are too young to compete this year, but we look forward to seeing what the future holds for them!

🍀 Most swims: Daniel (17 heat and finals swims), with Ebony close behind (16 swims)
🍀 Most sessions: Steph, who swam every single heat and finals session
🍀Biggest time drops:
Longer distances: Daniel (38.5 secs, 1500 fr)
Piper (24.9 secs, 1500 fr)
Mid distances: Ethan (9.62 secs for 400IM)
Erik (8.54 secs, 200IM)
Daniel (7.97 secs, 400IM)
Ruby (7.7 secs, 200 fly)
Short distances: Will (11.88 secs, 100 brst)
Rose (8.99 secs,100 fly)

🍀 Longest distance swam: Daniel (4.125km), closely followed by Piper (3.7km) and Ethan (3.5km)
🍀 Amazing team spirit award: Ebony, closely followed by every single Clovercrest swimmer!
🍀 Remarkable resilience: Alesha
🍀 Best supporter: Tristan, who cheered on all the swimmers, not just his brother!
Finally:
🍀 Congrats to every single Clovercrest swimmer who competed, contributing to our highest ranking in many years. Despite being a smaller club, we punched well above our weight to finish 6th overall on the points score!
Next up in big events, we see Ethan, Daniel, Piper, and Zac competing at the SA State Open Water Championships on March 19th, followed by the Australian Age Championships on the Gold Coast for Piper, Steph, Ruby, and Ella, which is in April. Good luck to all with their preparations!
